Moxie Salon hosts sleep out to benefit homeless youth

Moxie Salon on Lyndale will host the fifth annual “Great American Sleep Out” on Saturday to raise awareness about the plight of homeless youth.

The sleep out will take place in the parking lot next to Robot Love and the Soo Visual Arts Center at 2648 Lyndale Ave. S. — the block across the street from Moxie.

To participate in the event, individuals should collect pledges and arrive with a sleeping bag and cardboard box at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Radio K will play music during the evening and StreetWorks and Kulture Klub will be on hand to talk about the work they do to help homeless youth.

On Sunday, Moxie will be holding a “hair raising” event to raise money for homeless youth. Stylists will be offering $30 haircuts to customers who schedule appointments at either the salon’s Lyndale or St. Paul location with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting StreetWorks and the Kulture Klub Collaboration. The event runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
